BURN/SLASH PIT INFORMATION Jefferson-Como Fire Protection District now leases and operates the Burn/Slash Pit that is located on property belonging to Indian Mountain Metropolitan Recreation and Park District. The combination for the Burn Pit has now been changed. To have access to the Burn Pit you will need to fill out a form at the Jefferson-Como Station # 5 on Elk Horn Road to get the new combination or you can download the form from this site if you prefer Slash Pit.pdf. Then fax, email or snail mail the completed form to Jefferson-Como Fire Protection District at (719) 836-3244, or P.O. Box 380, Como, CO 80432-0380 at any time of day. Someone on the staff will call you and give you the combination to the gate once the requested information has been received. Periodically the Fire District is going to change the combination to the Gate. Registered users will be contacted with the new combination when the combination is changed. HERE ARE THE RULES FOR USING THE BURN PIT: PLEASE READ ALL CONDITIONS LISTED BELOW
1. WOOD PRODUCTS ONLY 2. NO TRASH (Paper, cardboard, cans, tires, etc.) 3. NO CONSTRUCTION TRASH (Insulation, roofing, paint, paint cans, nails, treated wood, etc.) 4. DO NOT MAKE INDIVIDUAL PILES 5. PLACE ON EXISTING PILE ONLY 6. DO NOT DUMP ON HILLSIDE 7. CLOSE AND LOCK GATE 8. KEEP THIS AREA CLEAN AND ORDERLY OR PIT WILL BE CLOSED
Fill out the form and bring it by Station 5 at 20200 County Road 15 or fax the form to Station 5 by calling (719) 836-3244 and you will be given the New Code.
